Oxfordshire to Saxmundham in Suffolk - quick midweek visit, where to stay overnight?

Hi there, I need suggestions where to stay the night when doing a midweek 2 day 1 night quick visit to old friends who will be in Saxmundham. Me & 2 dcs. Cheap and cheerful, literally somewhere to sleep before setting off back to Oxfordshire. I struggle with decision making Last year I left it too late so we didn't get get to see them at all. Any suggestions?

Ipswich will have the most hotels to choose from, but further away
