where did you book in the end dinny?

tiredemma · 16/01/2007 21:58

Havana restaurant on duke st is lovely- but expensive.

fab food though.

MamazonAKAfatty · 16/01/2007 22:00

is it the 17th of Feb?? if so us Brighton lot are (hopefully) meeting too, maybe we could say hello

dinny · 16/01/2007 23:19

WWW - booked Hotl Una in the end. Was going to bok Hotel du in but as it's 3 of us going it was going to work out at over £700 for two nights. Hotel du Vin recommended this place as a more...economical choice! hope it's ok!

thanks for the tips! is Havana very meaty, Tiredemma?

Fatty, no, it's not 17th of Feb, it's not till March. have fun!

tiredemma · 17/01/2007 17:26

aDad · 17/01/2007 17:33

if you fancy veggie food try Terre a Terre. It's the business.

Mt favourite restaurants are Gingerman, and Due South which is right down on the seafront overlooking the old pier. Favourite drinking hole for a posh night out (not that I get many of those nowadays!)is Koba.

dinny · 19/01/2007 18:28

yeah, Tiredemma

If you fancy a bit of salsa try Babylon. Not sure how good it is anymore though. Sadly it's no longer in its heyday! But worth going along for a class and a dance!

mabel1973 · 19/01/2007 18:52

no reccomendations..as i can't remember where i went, but i had my hen night in brighton and it was brilliant... have a fantastic time

dinny · 03/02/2007 17:23

OP posts:
ArcticRoll · 03/02/2007 17:26

Agree with other posters
Terre a Terre
Due South
The Gingerman plus
Drakes

tiredemma · 03/02/2007 17:31

Dinny- are you vegetarian?

Agree- have been looking for a good reaturant for myself when we go in MAy and keep seeing rave reviews for Due South.

must say- this place is fab for brekkie- but you must get there early!!
bills cafe

cant remember any bars I went to ( was v.v. drunk) but can vaguely remember some dodgy nightclub that stank of feet. Best to give that one a miss perhaps!

dinny · 03/02/2007 17:56

lol, cheesy feet, mmmmm

yes, don't eat meat, but friends going with do.

OP posts:
ArcticRoll · 03/02/2007 17:59

Ooh bill's defintely how could I have forgotten that?-more of a brunch/lunch place than dinner.

MABS · 03/02/2007 18:56

bills and due south are v good. Gars is good foir Chinese, Indian Summer is good for curry. Casa don Carlos is fab for tapas. There are also some good restuarants, bars in the marina - Karma is a good club. The Sky bar in Bton is good for cocktails and drinks. Zizi is good Italian.

chez33 · 08/02/2007 15:56

Hotel Du Vin has a fab restaurant.
Last time we went to Havana it was terrible, service was terribly slow and the food came out cold and steak overcooked. We moaned like mad and got a free bottle of wine though!
Agree with the others re Terre a Terre.

Also Blanche house does great food.

Jim Thompsons is fun with big wooden willy's everywhere!

dinny · 04/03/2007 08:42

any other recommendations for dinner (NOT veggie as two friends want meat! but I want veggie!)

we're off next weekend, can't wait!

OP posts:
dinny · 04/03/2007 08:47

oh, and not TOO pricey, kind of mid-range price

SecondhandRose · 04/03/2007 08:50

Can recommend Mamas Cherry's Soul Food for fab caribbean food. Well priced. All food is put into middle to share. It was on Gordon Ramsey about a year ago and he loved her cooking. You can book.

My dp and his colleagues went to mama cherrys and it was dreadful! It has a bit of a reputation for frozen fried stuff but may have improved

SecondhandRose · 04/03/2007 13:06

NH, did your DP go pre and post Gordon Ramsey? We loved it, all very rustic and cosy, certainly not a place to dress up for. Mind you saying that I think there are two restaurants now and we were in the original.
