I've never been to the Zoo - any opinions? or other ideas?

zoo is nice when the weather is good (looks ok today where I am ) - expensive though. It's not as big as you might imagine and there are fewer animals than I expected. Quite manageable with smaller kids though as a result. Lovely to walk through regents park too of course.
science museum is also excellent, and free iirc.
what age are your kids? the installation at the tate modern is fab for kids over 4/5 - huge slides which even the small ones (4/5) can go down and then you can do a nice walk by the river and have a pizza at gabriels wharf. The Fischli and Weiss exhibition (not sure if still on) has some film pieces in it that captivated my 4.5yo and her pal for a full 30 mins
otherwise tate britain has the kids art trolley where they get to choose lots of arty stuff in a tray and can make things as you wander around the gallery - always a hit with us

I'd forgotten about the Tate. we went when it had the boxes, which was quite good, except I was not sure if they were allowed to touch! I quite fancy a go on the slides myself. is the Fischli and Weiss exhibition at Tate modern?

we went to the science museum - they have a fantastic IMAXX cinema in there we saw Polar Express in 3D its on at 4pm. ds 5 and friend 11 loved it and didnt move throughout.

both will be great - I imagine zoo will be less busy and it is such a bright day would be nice to be out. I would choose fresh air zoo rather than indoors museum.

science museum is GREAT but I agree with dimpledthighs and would choose fresh air zoo rather than indoors museum.

zoo and science museum both fab. natural history museum good too.

I would choose Science museum over Zoo any day. In the winter, the animals can look a bit sorry for themselves and when we went, the zoo had a really deserted feel - or was that on account of the high ticket prices? Remember the science museum has free entry.

To make the most of the sunshine, go to the wonderful Princess Diana memorial playground first, then walk through the park to the musuem.
