I WANT TO GO!!!!!! But fear it would be foolish with 4 dcs aged 10, 7, 5 and 1.5. It's bound to be scarily crowded, isn't it?

Haven't been, but would be interested to hear from people who have. I too suspect it will be crowded, which puts me off a bit - but the question is, just how crowded?

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2007 11:12

Is it in one of the big squares? I saw mention of it in that free guide, I think it was.

Surely, it can't be Nottinghill Carnival crowded?

USAUKMum · 12/01/2007 12:01

I've been wondering about this too. It is in Trafalgar Sq. and I saw they have a children's tent. I saw it in Junior mag

With a lot of festivals, if you get there right at the start, they can be ok, and certainly less crowded than later.

I wonder if all the Polish/Lithuanian/etc people go to this?

TooTicky · 12/01/2007 12:07

There's no way we could get there for the beginning - would be after midday definitely.

So, has anybody been before?

Yes, we went last year with a newish baby and a 3 year old. It was very, very busy, even for me who lives in London and doesn't mind crowds eg around the stalls they were 5 or 6 deep and you couldn't see anything.
We didn't stay long because of the crush but dd (on dh's shoulders) did watch a couple of acts which she liked and were good.
On balance, I wouldn't go again, but it could work better for older children.
Hope I haven't been too bleak but was trying to be honest.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2007 13:55

Honest is good! Nobody wants to shlep to town and then be faced with a crowd. Do you remember if you went early or late?

TooTicky · 12/01/2007 13:57

Thankyou welshmum. I feared that would be the case but it's good to have it confirmed - means I won't feel quite so wistful. London's a bit of a trek anyway so it would have been a hard day.
