Looking for somewhere to go for 1-1.5 weeks in the Summer. Don't want to do beach holiday although wouldn't mind a day or 2 at the beach. Quite like the thought of going somewhere in Europe, eg Netherlands, Germany, Belgium. Don't particularly want to go out of Europe as that involves more travelling, and then time zone change etc which impacts the holiday. Thinking to do Air B&B so somewhere that we can do day trips from, but that has nice stuff to do wherever it is we are staying. A city or town perhaps with good transport links. I'm hoping that you can give me some ideas so I can actually get started rather than spending hours trawling the internet! We would be coming from Scotland, so would ideally have a direct route, or a simple journey at least. Also don't have a budget in mind as such, but not wanting to spend a tonne (vague I know!)
To put it all another way, where have you gone on holiday that's not a Package Thomas Cook Majorca type holiday that you have found has been great for you and your children, with something for everyone?
