Looking for suggestions in the North for places for a 12 year old girl, out door type.

Already know about Chester zoo, Wildlife park place in the Lakes, The lake district in general and of course all our local nature walks and parks.

Any recommendations?

Can you travel a bit further east? Not entirely sure it would suit a 12 year old as we've taken slightly younger children, but Alnwick Castle/Alnwick Gardens were good. The poison garden was declared super cool, as was the Harry Potter link

A trip to the Farne Islands might also be of interest? Seal and bird colonies.

Lots of glorious countryside in that area as well.

Only place we didn't think was particularly good was Northumberlandia.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is quite good as well.
