package holidays with toddlers- do I take a car seat?

I'm looking at doing a package holiday before DS turns 2. Potential destinations are Croatia, any Balearic or Greek islands if we go in August, or the Canaries if we go in November.

I've looked at Jet2 and Thomson/First Choice. These companies seem to offer good luggage allowance for kids but I am a bit unsure of the restrictions.

If I take a pushchair, can I still take a car seat? Is a car seat necessary for the transfers? We would not be hiring a car.

We've never taken a carseat on holiday abroad

You can take both car seat and (single piece fold) pushchair. If not buying seat then child may not have a luggage allowance but will have pushchair etc. I have always taken a seat! But then we have generally done lots of driving.

I mean always taken a car seat.. not an airplane seat for an under 2!

car seats often don't work on coaches, which are much safer than cars.
