surprise 30th dp weekend away

june o7 dp is 30 ha ha anyway taking him away for a weekend can go thursday -monday places that i ve looked at are tallinn estonia, new york usa , toronto canada. can spend up to £1000 on weekend away as dp m&d are going to chip in ( as they cant think of anything to get dp)

If you can get a good deal on NYC then I would definately go there..Its a really special place to go for a major birthday such as 30th!!

IMO it is an amazing city!!! Once you are there eating and such like is really cheap, even more so with the good exchange rate. I usually only go for 4* hotels but NY is the one place I would say that it really doesnt matter as you will hardly ever be in your room. Hotels in NYC arent generally as high a standard as other major cites, and the rooms are usually smaller as space is at a premium but apart from that its fantastic!!

So much to see and do for different tastes and interests, touristy things like statue of libery, ground zero, museums, huge discount shopping mall (MAC 1/4 of the price), theatre etc etc etc!!!

Only prob is that in June it might be quite hot but as long as you have the right clothes and footwear you will be fine.

Just had a quick look on expedia.. hotel pennsylvania which is where we stayed 3 years ago, flying friday coming back on monday with virgin is £512 each!! Bargin!

thanks any one else got any other ideas??? as think dp is on to me about ny etc want to abroad but open to all ideas????

The best weekend away we've ever had was to Barcelona. Heaps to do, very cheap to eat out and near the beach. Would really recommend it. With your budget you could do it in style too!

I'm off to barcelona in Feb, they have some fantastic 4* hotels for around £100 a night, so if you could get cheapish flights you would have a fantastic weekend... beware though... ryanair fly to 2 "barcelona" airports, reus and girona... apparently theses are miles and miles away from the city centre (40+ I think?) I dont think getting a train between the airport and the city is a problem, just that I would choose not to spend my weekend doing planes trains and automobiles.. we got our flights with flyglobespan.

Rome is good for a weekend, dh and I went a couple of years ago. We've also been to Toronto, if you fly into Toronto you could go to Niagara falls for a night, we took a helicopter ride over the falls which was amazing, never been to New York but would love to go.

whats to do in toronto ???/ where did you stay???? looked at the hilton looks pretty good

looked at rome and barc but going in june so its to hot for dp hates the heat!!!!!
