Kid-friendly, fun place to stay between Calais and Ile de Re

Hello, I'm looking for a 3-4 night stay to break up our journey on our way down to La Grainetiere Camping site on Ile de Re in August. Looking for something fun for kids and us (camping is fine, but would be renting a mobile home, rather than tenting - or open to other options too) - and places to visit if weather bad....any recommendations very welcome?
Thanks

where are you starting from? il de re is only about 7 hours from calais isnt it?
We usually do that in one go, with stop offs, snacks, toilet breaks and loads of kids favourite music in the car, tablets, comics (and travel sickness pills)

If youre driving a long way from calais, id maybe stop near boulogne for a night or two, and visit Nausicaa (which is brilliant) or le touquet, but if you want something further along, then rouen is a good stopover, but 3 or 4 nights might be a bit much

Thanks for reply - yes, exactly, it is only 7 hours from Calais - but we could only get a 7 night stay at La Grainetiere and we have 10-14 days holiday to take, so seems sensible to stay somewhere good along the way.
will look into the options you've suggested thanks.

And sorry, forgot to add, we're coming from London.

how about stopping off somewhere like Honfleur, or somewhere else in Normandy, maybe around mont st michel, or maybe nantes

You might struggle to rent a mobile home in August for anything other than a one week stay. For 3-4 nights I would be looking at a B+B. Loire valley would be about right. Or what about stopping near the Puy du Fou and enjoying the best theme park in the world.
