Stopovers for drive to the Alps

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good stopovers for a drive from NW England to the French Alps?

I can't decide if we'd rather do one stop or two, so I'm open to ideas of anywhere en route. We prefer a B&B, preferably one that does evening meals. Two kids with us, so families rooms preferable.

Thank you Smile

We have stopped here many times.

It is almost exactly half way from Calais to Geneva. It is 2 mins from the motorway, but you don't hear the road at night times.

It has a pool & a really nice playground for children of all ages. They will also make you a picnic for the next day.

I found it via a recommendation from another Mumsnetter!

We used to use the campanile hotel chains. We stopped at Lyon on our way to the alps.

We used To stop in Troyes too, as half way to Geneva. Depends really what you want, variety of hotels.
