Looking for a good resort for dd to go to with her friends

Dd 19 is planning her first holiday abroad with friends this summer. They aren't into the Ibiza/party type holidays and they don't want to go to Spain/ Balearics as they've been before. They want a decent but good value hotel by the beach. I want them to go somewhere 'safe' (eek).

Any ideas?

I live in Carvoeiro on the Algarve, quite a small resort, they can't get lost, but there's enough to do, lots of choice of restaurants etc. They can get an airport transfer from faro and if they stay at the Mirachoro Praia hotel - or get a self catering apartment - they can walk to the beach, shops etc
