My new laptop has a basic version of Corel which it defaults to e.g. when I'm downloading pics from the camera. I'm not really gelling with it, partly because it keeps asking me to upgrade to the paid version.

Can anyone suggest an alternative? I don't do anything fancy - just rotating, cropping and removing redeye, really.

You could try Picasa you can do basic editing & it's free - you can also set up web albums - I find it useful when I want to show pictures on Mumsnet

Have just had a play with Picasa. Looks good - thanks for the tip!

Am enjoying Picasa, but Ulead sounds worth a look, too - thanks. Paint shop pro sounds a bit advanced! I don't have a mac - have never used one, tho I hear they are good for this kind of thing.
