Hi,my really lovely 20 year old nephew is over from Australia. He is here for another two weeks.
I am really desperate for ideas to entertain him.He is a lovely lad.We are in the North West.He is especially keen on snow, such as snow boarding.
Any ideas please? His eyes light up if I mention snow,so it would be great to send him home with some experiences.
Please help,as he is very bored but painfully polite and enthusiastic. There must be something else we can be doing with him, other than him catching a train to look around Manchester each day! We do have a car.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Scotland for a long weekend?

jampots · 27/12/2006 21:53

warwick castle is a great day out and until 7th Jan they have an ice rink and ice slide - its great for all the family

Skribble and Jampots, thank you so much,BLESS YOU.I will certainly be taking both ideas up.A special thanks to Skribble for the links, which were brilliant.
Milton Keynes is a bit far away but the link to Rossendale is excellent and we`re not too far away.Sandcastles,I like your idea too but not sure whether we will fit everything in,especially as we are also going to Aberdeen ourselves for a weekend.
Good idea though which I will explore.
Thanks again!!

There is an Xscape at Castleford, West Yorks. Straight down the M62 and you'll be there.
Its great. There is a cinema there, loads of restaurants, bars and next to it is an outdoor shopping complex.

If he's sporty how about the rock climbing wall at Kendal? Its very good.

time4me · 29/12/2006 21:45

Thank you, thank you.We are definatly going to Rossendale and now I know where the nearest Escape is Ill investigate that. I did try googling it but for some reason couldnt work it out,so thanks for that.He is going to stay with a cousin in the Lake District for a few days,so that gives us a breather.Shame about the awful weather forcast but his cousin will have all the outdoor pursuits checked out,so he should have a nice time. He`s dying for snow, bless him.All Aussies are the same! Thank you once again.

My children are about that age. Are there any 20 year old girls you could introduce him to which presumably would really be what he wants most, cool clubs or any groups of local people his age (preferably with girls in them) that go walking or book him a day learning something interesting sporty and related to his hobbies whatever they are. He might like like to see London for a day even.

Great stuff.
Me and DH go quite alot cos we love snowboarding and I love shopping there.

Plus a little tip for him. If he goes into the Ellis Brigham shop at the back of Xscape he can go in and test run any snowboard he wants! Always good to look cool on the slopes
Hope he enjoys it!
