dh's Christmas present to me was a weekend city break! where do I go??

taking two friends - first instinct is to go to Amsterdam as have never been and it'd be fun....

any other suggestions? going by Eurostar NOT flying! such a lovely decision to have to make !

Tell us a bit more about what kind of weekend you want - cultural/history/museums, natural beauty spot, party/bars, hot weather/cold weather, etc. Also, what time of year?

am thinking party/bars (but not too crazy!) at this stage.... time of year - probably March....

don't want to go to Paris as love it but really want to go somewhere I'm not so familiar with!

can you get to prague via eurostar?

Think I'd vote for Barcelona. Weather would probably be lovely, and it's a charming city. Good mixture of eating/drinking/culture, IMO.

by train, Earlybird?

amsterdam is fabulous, such a beautiful city, lots to do and see and great restaurants and clubs.

of the eurostar destinations this would be my choice.

other options would be normandy as they beaches are epic and would be deserted this time of year, needless to say food is fab.

paris? but make sure you get lots of advice....imo paris is fantastic if you have an insiders 'in' but can be crap if you just do the tourist thing. mn will help i'm sure.

Nope you're right - missed the by train part. Must still be bleary-eyed from Christmas...

I think the Orient Express goes out of Victoria station in London. Might be worth checking to see where they go to?

erm. we stayed in a lovely little hotel on a canal....hotel ambassador i think? maybe, on kaisergracht.

obviously if you want to push the boat out blakes is the place.
