Less crowded things to in in London at the start of half term.

So having booked a couple of nights in London at the start of Feb half term, we've been given a date for DD's tonsillectomy. The advice is to avoid crowds to avoid infection.

Although we'll be right at the end of the crowd avoidance, any suggestions of things a 3 & 5 year old might like would be gratefully received!

DD's been doing the great fire of London this term, so if things like the monument and Museum of London are likely to be not too bad that would be good to know.

Would the Greenwich Observatory be quieter I wonder.

Museums will be heaving at half term, particularly if the weather is rubbish. That said, museum of London Docklands is often quieter than museum of London in Barbican.

English heritage places often quieter than national trust - but not much there to keep a 3 or 5 year old happy.

Monument isn't generally too bad crowds wise.

We went to the observatory in December and it got pretty crowded as the day went on. The 5 year old did enjoy the planetarium shows.

I think we'll have to play it by ear really. It's the last couple of days where we're meant to avoid crowds that we're there. If we're in museums that are free to go in then we can always go early and leave if it starts to get crowded.

To be fair, she's meant to avoid people with coughs and colds too. In our household as it currently is we'd have to leave her home alone for 2 weeks to manage that.

Museum of Docklands might be good. We're staying out that side of London anyway.
