Things to do in Valencia

Dh and I will be travelling to Valencia in September.
Does anyone have any recommendations of places to visit, Things to do, favourite places to eat etc? We wil be staying fairly central not far from the beach.
I've looked online at Valencia but in my experience it's always good to go on more personal recommendations.

My 2 favourite restaurants are El Cabanyal and La Masia del Vino. You can find them both in Tripadvisor, and you definitely need to book for El Cabanyal. It is quite small

we went in september, the weather was fantastic, the spanish food unfortunately was dire, we ended up eating in a fab american diner each evening.
We found that unlike Barcelona not many people spoke english. I don't know much spanish but we got by.
We also found it to be very cheap when we were there.
