Hello am flying from Belfast to Birmingham in March with my 2 year old does he need a passport thanks

yes he does. since relatively recently all people need their own travel documents.

Assuming you're on EasyJet, their advice states:

Children under the age of 16 travelling on domestic flights in the UK, France, Spain and Portugal are not required to provide identification if accompanied by an adult who can vouch for the child’s identity.

Yes it's EasyJet. So I presume he doesn't need passport

Agreed, I think he doesn't need a passport or other form of ID. Might be best to check with EasyJet if you can, though - you can send them an email from here or their phone numbers are here.
