Looking for somewhere basic and lovely for a beach holiday

We haven't got a very big holiday budget this year but would really love to get away for a week of sunshine and swimming if possible. Does anyone know where we could go that has a lovely, sandy beach with water warm enough for swimming out of peak season? Can be flexible with dates but out of school holidays is better if cheaper. Don't need swimming pool, spa, kids club or anything like that. Can be self catering / B&B. Thinking somewhere small and relaxed and not a resort would be nice, as long as it's suitable for a toddler.

What sort of budget?
How about the Greek islands? We've had lovely budget holidays in low season on most of the more popular islands (Corfu, Zakynthos, Kos, Kefalonia, Crete etc)
Have a look at Ag Stefanos, Ag Gordios or Arillas on Corfu...do they fit the bill?

Spain and Portugal will probably be cheaper, but might not be as warm.

Moraira in Spain has a lovely safe beach for toddlers and you can get cheap flights to Alicante

Look at Valentinos apartments/ studios in Roda in Corfu. Fab place. Basic but very clean and dead friendly. Has a pool and family based pool bar/snacks. Field across with rabbits, chickens etc and tutted in wee river down the road, 5 mins walk to shops, restaurants etc and beautiful sandy gently shelving beach. We love it!

Thanks everyone and sorry for the late reply. Really like Arillas & Roda in Corfu and Moraira in Spain. Can get flights from local airport to those destinations so that'll make things simpler too. Thinking we might not be able to go until September now but at least I can start planning.

September is a good time to go to the med as the sea will be warm.
