Where to go for a cheap and cheerful holiday abroad in May.?

I'm looking for cheap flights, cheap hotel/villa/mobile home. Hot enough to swim and a few places to visit. I looked at Barcelona but very pricey. Can anyone help me please?

If you want hot, how about the Canaries, May is one of the cheapest time of year to go?

Hard to say whether packages or booking independently would be cheapest but Lanzarote has lots to do (Volcano Park, Cesar Manrique (artist) themed houses/gardens, wineries, cactus garden, caves, boat trips to adjacent islands (Fuereventura or a tiny one off the north coast). Plus beaches and watersports of course.

Lots of Bungalow complexes which are good for up to 4 people as well as plenty of hotels for all budgets.

The Algarve? I live here, try a diy holiday booking accommodation direct via homeaway owners direct etc and check skyscanner for flight from your local airport?
