We're off to Newquay this summer for the first time and we're really excited! (never been to Cornwall before)

What are the best beaches and places to go with young children? Ours will be 7y, 5y, 3y and 3months.

thanks

We went to Cornwall last year and stayed near Newquay. If you have any train lovers (or not) go to Lappa Valley Steam Railway which is nearby. The train takes you to a lovely place with two more train rides, crazy golf, lake with canoes and paddle boats, path maze, children's play area and play castle, cafe, etc. It would be a great place to take a picnic although the cafe did some yummy food.

If you like riding bikes (can hire & get a trailer for baby) go on the Camel Trail which starts/stops at Padstow. You ride along the river and its cycles/walkers only so great for the kids. Also go into a local supermarket/tourist office and pick up a bunch of leaflets - we found lots of things to do this way. Newquay Zoo is also good fun.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan were fascinating and fun. Go on the Camel Trail - you can hire bikes with trailers - look on the internet. Take the ferry from Padstow to Rock and climb Mount Everest - take a picnic or buy pasties in Padstow to eat in the dunes. Go Karting for the eldest kids at Mawgan Porth. Go surfing at Polzeath and visit the kite shop. North of Newquay are some lovely more ecluded beaches. Porthcothan, Treyarnon and Trevone are fab. The nest rock pools are near Constantine Bay on Boobies (!) Bay. Check the tide time tables, visit at low tide. Park near to Trevose Light HOuse and walk down. Look for cowries near mussel shells in the rockpools.
I LOVE Cornwall. We stayed near padstow every year when I was little. The best holidays ever.

I remember the aquarium was a good visit and of course Eden project but if you have littleies then maybe dairyland farmworld would be good?
