LOL.

Just seen daddycool is back online and wanted to say welcome back. Someone get him over here and he can then say hello and tell us all about how he smothered maple syrup on this woman he barely met in a bar a few weeks back.

Right, dc ?

(No, not that dc, the other).

Can he source us some cheap maple syrup?

I need it and Costco's all out.

This stuff costs a bomb here!

hub2dee · 17/12/2006 00:06

He's got loads, but he needs to spread it personally, so I suppose that's no good.

expatinscotland · 17/12/2006 00:07

Erm. No. That's No Good.

hub2dee · 17/12/2006 00:08

Oh well, I tried.

Think I'll continue paying £2.00 for 250mL for it in Sainsbury's.

hub2dee · 17/12/2006 00:15

But expat, really, how much do you go through ???

250ml would probably last me 2 years LOL.

A lot if I'm making US recipes.

I usually substitute Scottish honey, though, w/no probs.

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 18/12/2006 18:06

no way expat! maple syrup is cheaper in the uk than here and they only make it down the road from me! 2 quid for 250 ml is reasonable. it costs be slightly more over here! the stuff is expensive, no matter where you are in the world. production is done in small batches, takes bloody ages with loads of wasteage.

thanks h2d! good to back in the land of the living.

purplemonkeydasheranddancer · 18/12/2006 18:24

who needs maple syrup?! I'd rather have some Aunt Jemima any day! (we always send a HUGE bottle from costco when we go back across)
Welcome back DC!

hub2dee · 18/12/2006 19:57

Do you ski dc ? Are you hoping to ski soon ?

Do you miss the accents of London (or wherever you were living ?)

OMG for one minute, I thought Lavender was back & shooting things with her kids !

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 19/12/2006 18:14

omg purplemonkey, aunt jemima is gross!!

ski? yes. very much so but we're having really mild weather and the skiing doesn't kick in until January here.

I took ds skating the other day and that was a blast. I had to buy matching father/son hockey skates of course ... poor dw could hardly stand up and bruised her arse severely.

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 19/12/2006 18:19

and yes. quite homesick. especially this time of year. i miss the english accent.

purplemonkeydasheranddancer · 20/12/2006 08:32

daddycool - them's fightin' words!
I'm not from the part of the country that makes the real deal. so we were never bothered about eating treesap, er, i mean maple syrup.
anyway, glad to see you back on MN even though you are in the wilds of caNAda.
I can't imagine being back over there this time of year. BRRRRRRRR!!!!!

christie1 · 22/12/2006 19:36

Where are you in canada. My home town is ottawa but I am in london. I am actually missing the snow at christmas. Never thought that would happen.

hunkermunker · 22/12/2006 19:39

HUB! Hello!

Sorry for being so lamentable about meeting up and keeping in touch. I've got an ear infection and have had a fluey type thing (it would have killed a man) for nearly a fortnight now

How are you?

hunkermunker · 22/12/2006 19:39

Ahem.

Welcome back, DaddyCool!

Have you had many mince pies this year?

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 22/12/2006 19:41

Shoot away

StrawberrySnowflakes · 22/12/2006 19:47

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 22/12/2006 19:49

to answer the thread title... ye can shoot a moose here in Bonnie Scotland... but they're helluva small.

hub2dee · 23/12/2006 15:26

No worries, hunker. Heard you been accosting old men and ramming them with your car... (answer: qet a quote, pass out, get money off him, spend it on somthing else). Give me a shout if you want to get together.

Nice find, Rusty.

Thank you for keeping to OP, Aitch... young people are so easily distracted these days...

just saw this one again.

  1. no haven't had hardly any mince pies. just some ones from the local bakery.
  1. i'm in cobourg which is a town about an hours drive east of toronto.
  1. it's very mild here. unusually mild but it's about -3 right now (thats mild) and it's snowing big heavy flakes which is very nice indeed. we got about a foot of snow a couple weeks ago and that was fantastic!
JoolsToo · 27/12/2006 17:09

mild?, I'll give you mild
I have tulip shoots coming up in a pot in my garden and gorse is blooming on the hillsides

I also had a couple of roses flowering into December

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 27/12/2006 18:01

wow!

the whole world is getting this right now. it's very strange indeed.

winter sports (skiing, snowmobiling) firms are dieing. I'm going skating alot with ds but at the indoor rinks. we're waiting anxiously for outdoor rinks to pop up (frozen lakes, flooded playing fields).
