I'm trying to find a good place to take my mum, dh and two kids 6 and 4 to celebrate mum's seventieth. Within 1 to 1.5 hours of north London ideal.

What is your budget? are you looking for countryside or city or a theme type place to amuse the kids?

I love the Blakeney Hotel in North Norfolk but don't know whether that would be doable in 1.5hours?

Otherwise there are some gorgeous villages in Oxfordshire?
