We're thinking of spending a week there next July to give our boys some beach time after visiting friends/relatives in the NYC area. We're thinking somewhere near Cape May, but neither of us know this area. DH suggested Wildwood, which he visited as a child, but it looks tacky and very busy to me.
What I'd prefer is a lovely beach town with good restaurants, a boardwalk and a few child-friendly things to do nearby. Does Cape May sound like a better bet? Or would you recommend one of the other towns like Ocean City or Avalon? Our DC will be 8 and 5.
