German Christmas market in B'ham?

Has anyone ever been to this? Thinking of going on Saturday - assuming you can do park n ride into the centre. I'm not expecting it to be like the Cologne market for example, but am wondring if it is truly "German" or just full of the tat that couldn't be sold in Germany itself. Boys were too little when we moved back from the continent to appreciate the markets there and as Christmas shopping is finished - phew! - it could be a fun day out?

We've been in previous years and it's been quite good. The stalls seemed to be selling genuine German items. I definately remember drinking gluwein sitting on the side of the floozie.

I have been every year since it started and I would say that most stalls were selling genuine german stuff.

It is lovely and christmassy but be warned it is always very busy on a Saturday and it can be difficult to get to the stalls to look properly.

It's fine, but the one in Lincoln is much bigger and better, if that's not too far for you

But the Lincoln one's finished already - it's only one weekend each year.

I really liked the german market in Birmingham last year, I thought the stalls were fairly authentic. It's def worth a trip. Agree Lincoln is beautiful at Xmas time but incredibly busy!!

I've been, and thought it was lovely, real christmassy atmosphere, but don't know how authentic it is as haven't been to a real one.
In fact my parents have just gone out with boys for the afternoon to the market so I can do some work.
Really must go and do that work...
