I'm going to playa de las americas, tenerife for two weeks. Me, my partner and my 16 month old son is going. We can take the typical 20 pounds worth of baggage each.
We went to Majorca when my son was 10 months old, but went with a group of us too. Our suitcases were coming in at over 35 pounds each, but others in the group took very little so it was ok. What do you suggess we do this time. Should I take an SMA gold large tin and large bag of nappies.
We will be in a suite with fridge, microwave and kettle and we are all inclusive. Any ideas on how we can cut it down?

Take enough nappies for the flight and one day. Then buy some when you get there.
Milk - tricky, as you can buy it in Spain, but not the make you DS will be used to. Can you not give him ordinary cow's milk now he is 16 months? How often is he having milk? At that age, DD was having just one drink at night from a cup.
General packing: Don't take lots of shoes - they weigh a lot. Same for toiletries, don't take full sized bottles - buy smaller ones, or buy when you get there.
Take only two outfits for evenings, and no heavy denim - If you want to take jeans, wear them on the plane, same with boots and a jacket.

you might be better asking for advice about the bottle feeding from the 'Breast and bottle feeding' section. 4 times a day seems a lot - is he eating well in addition to all the milk?

Regarding cases - Have a look in TK Maxx (if you have one nearby) They have lots of cases to Choose from. Our cases are hard shell wheelie ones, but very lightweight.

the tin of milk will be fine in the case.
Nappies - if you want pampers, then yes can be expensive, but look for a Lidl, Netto or Aldi and buy cheapies.
Toiletries - not too bad - especially if you aren't bothered about the same brands as back home.

LAURACOLLEY · 11/12/2006 11:34

we buy asda and tesco own toleitries. not value thou.

You can buy baby food jars in Spain, but they are expensive, I don't think many Spanish mums use them. DD ate mushed up portions of our food.

LAURACOLLEY · 11/12/2006 11:43

i am going to give me the basic non sweet breakfast cereal. there usually is one. like oats or weetabix.
in majorca we mixed up food there. he was bit sick thou. we weren't at all so nothing wrong with food.
I just think you don't know how it is prepared ie lots of salt when its all laid out for you
