How do you like to spend your time when you're on holiday?

Currently debating the kind of holiday we want next year. The dc are starting to outgrow pottering on the beach, and I'm trying to work out what kind of holiday we'd all enjoy the most. We all like to be up and doing to some extent, rather than letting the days drift by, the dc will tolerate pretty towns and museums a bit but it's not their idea of fun. Hence the mulling over. So how do you and your family like to spend your days on holiday?

Deciding between the beach and the pool (if abroad).
Mine are all teens, but all water babes. All love to read too. We go for total relaxation on holiday.

Same as BackforGood.
Anywhere with a water park, the bigger the better. This year was Costa Adeje near Siam Park which is a huge and fabulous water park.

Never done sightseeing before until last year.
We tried a cruise last year with 18 and 16 year old DSs. That was a great mix of relaxation and sightseeing. We tagged a week in a hotel on the end.

We love to spend time by the pool and the beach but we also hire a car so we can see other places. Our girls love castles, museums etc. and wandering round different towns.

We do a bit of both and everyonw seems happy.

we used to do the keycamp type holidays. this meant we did a bit of site-seeing, bit of beach, bit of sport and the kids went off and played football a lot and made friends. leaving me to drink wine and read. used to work pretty well.

Anywhere lots to do hopefully with few or no Brits. Beach and sunbathing our idea of hell. This year Sweden. Usually France / Germany / Netherlands. Next year AZ.

We do a combination of pool, beach, villages, delicious food, shopping and now that the children are older, a bit of biking, segways and waterparks.

I'm with gingerdad. Recent holidays for us have been Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Serbia and Ukraine. Can't think of anything worse than a beach holiday surrounded by English pubs and nightclubs.
