Croatia?

Thinking of tagging a few days onto a week in Italy next summer and going to Northern Croatia. Had 3 children (will be 7-11). Have seen a fab hotel in Porec but worried now that will be too commercialised - fine line between having enough going on for the children (pool, water sports perhaps) with it being too busy.

Have looked at Rivinj too - any advice welcome. Would probably be for 4 nights (in August).

Many thanks.

We are off to Rovinj and Pula next week .....I think Rovinj is very popular not sure what it would be like in peak season - will let you know how we get on ....Why not ask on tripadvisor

We went to Rovinj last May (2014) with DS1 aged 15 months. We absolutely loved it. It's so picturesque. The people are lovely and child-friendly. Food and drink were good everywhere we went. We stayed at the Hotel Eden which was really nice and allowed you to use the more modern, next door hotel's facilities including swimming pools for all ages. There was a very pretty walk along the shore into the town. There were lots of opportunities for walking, running and cycling in the nearby forest. There were many boat trips on offer too although we felt DS was a bit young. The weather was gorgeous all week. I can't recommend it highly enough; we will definitely be returning!

Both are lovely, but it's years since I was there.

Sorry I did say I would post and forgot .....

Well we had a wonderful stay it was a bit wet on the first day and then the sun came out (October) pleasant 18/19 degrees for the rest of the week....

We stayed in the Hotel Lone - which was just wonderful - I am very hard to please when it comes to hotels (in terms of service) but what can I say other than - there attitude was anything is possible !

Rovinj was beautiful.....little cobble streets - lovely frontage onto the coast with cafes etc and because we were out of season quiet ! We did a boat trip which was very reasonable (free wine) ....we were fortunate to get free cycle hire so we cycled around the town and the country park..

Any of the hotels near the Lone looked good including the Eden ...

We did go up to Novigrad and Porec - both very nice - we had lunch in Porec and explored a lovely mountain village a bit further north (forgot name now)

We moved down to Pula for two day's and I wasnt over keen on Pula - would not stay there again - it was pleasant but not inspiring ...

We did spend the last day in RABAC and loved RABAC and I think this would be a great place to be located ....its got a couple of beaches - a few biggish hotels and whilst sadly we did not stay there to eat I can imagine it would be wonderful to sit along the front ...although we were told it was extremely busy in the summer.....just above RABac is a wonderful cobbled town Labin which was nice to wonder around ...

From Rabac you can explore a little more I think (but I would give Pula a miss)...
