not sure if it will be up and running yet or how old/big your kids are but the skating rink in millenium square in town is ace if a bit expensive - but good for a treat. Might not open til after christmas though - sorry! You can phone the council and ask them..

HAve you looked on Netmums? They have local boards and each local board has a list of local christmas events/grottos/pantos/markets etc

They have Santa Trains on the Kirklees Light Railway (Clayton West, near Denby Dale) too. I think a 2-y-o would enjoy that. (I haven't been at Christmas, but have at other times, and my dds have enjoyed it - train-obsessed boys love it!) You need to book, though.

Not sure what else there is nearby. We've been to Sundown the last couple of years, and to the Christmas market in Millennium Square. The market is there till the 17th this year.

Tropical World in ROundhay has a christmas theme for a few days a bit nearer to Christmas - basically they have christmas lights in amoungst the plants etc. If you've never been it would be worth taking your kids anyway. I've been to tropical world a few times, but will be going to the Christmas display for the first time this year. hth

Where is Sundown? Not heard of that.

JingEllBells · 11/12/2006 22:07

Sundown Adventure Land

(It's probably about an hour to an hour and a half south of Leeds, not far off the A1)

I think I've seen in the papers that there's a Santa's Grotto at Cannon Hall this year too, but I haven't been.

I took my 2.5 yr old on the santa train at Clayton West on Saturday. He loved it.
They have trains every weekend and I think a couple in the week too but I'm not sure if they are fully booked or not.

Peggotty good idea but i'm pregnant at the mo and not sure if I can stand all the diff smells - puke. And the heat.

Apparantly thouugh theres a xmas "train" that goes all around the main park, £1 ticket...

Keep the ideas coming.........

Fancy the two railways - Denby dale and Keighley but Keighley is sold out.

Sundown a bit too far...Shame there isn't on in leeds, my ambition to open one....

I've been to that kids farm.. just trying to remember what it's called...something Farm Park. It is good, and I didn't know they had a Christmas thing at it. Cafe there is very nice - it's all about how good the cake is for me ...
