Lisbon

Would anyone have a recommendation for a charming hotel in Lisbon. It does not have to be child friendly (yay!). I'm not looking for something fancy, just something with character and, if possible good food and wine.

Also, any recommendations for good restaurants, etc would be appreciated!

I'm going with a friend of mine in a couple of weeks for a long weekend (the trip is my bday present).

Thanks!

When are you going? The reason I ask is that once you get into June I really feel you will be struggling to book any hotel in Lisbon due to Euro 2004. We are going out there during the championships but have never been before so can't help with your question I'm afraid.

I'm going 28-31 May. Have found a few places which look promising and will report back on good restaurants.

mambo - we are going on 10th and returning on 24th - we have tickets for England v France and England v Croatia and dh and ds will also be going to a few other non England games with friends.

Gosh Jaybee you are making a holiday of it. We are hoping we might see England . How old is your ds ? and has he ever been to anything like this before. Our ds is 12 and has been to big clubs in uk but I do worry in case there is any trouble. Football is his life I don't think he will survive the next month!!!!

mambo · 14/05/2004 10:18

Have you got tickets for the other non England games?

maretta · 23/05/2004 19:24

I'm off to Lisbon too and fortunately for me not for the football.

I am looking for a child friendly hotel, (no dirty weekends for me) in the city itself - any recommendations?

JJ · 01/06/2004 09:37

Am back -- the city is great. I have a couple of recommendations for good restaurants. I went without the kids; sorry I can't help you with the hotel, maretta. Ours was booked through laterooms.com (brilliant site!).

Once I dig out the restaurant names, I'll post them. If you'd like any more info, let me know. After spending 3 days there, I'm the expert
