Love France - recommend me something similar elshwhere

We've gone every year for the last decade. We always hire a traditional g??te with a private pool. We love the privacy, being able to stay at the g??te or drive a short distance to a choice of towns for food, being able to mooch around little shops, go for walks, going to local markets, sightsee etc. we've been all over France and hope to one day retire there but really rather fancy seeing somewhere else.

Would like to do something in the same-ish style, so can anyone recommend anywhere?

Can't recommend accommodation as we do Eurocamp rather than gite style holidays. Have you been to Italy? We used to go to France most summers, but have really enjoyed Italy. Tuscany will offer a lot of what you enjoy about France I think

Italy or Spain - Italy is classier I suppose, but tends to be much more expensive; we've stayed in s/c in Tuscany & Andalucia, & like both, but Andalucia is much cheaper

Depends when you go as well. S Spain is generally broiling in July & August. Tuscany also hot but not quite as bad.

Corsica? Still France but a little extra.
