Any recommendations for must do things to see or places to eat in Durham? We'll have a toddler in tow if that limits anything.

TIA

City centre wise? Well the cathedral is a must! Also the botanical gardens are beautiful just on the outskirts of the city. The river walk is also lovely, the DLI museum is always worth a look imo. The castle and palace green library are also rather lovely and there is a lovely coffee shop in there. Plenty of restaurants / coffee shops and independent shops to have a mooch around in though if you have a toddler in tow this might be a pipe dream!!

Further out, one of my absolute favourite places is finchale abbey Smile toddler will enjoy exploring climbing in the ruins, adults the scenery and peace and quiet! (I'll post a pic)

Gosh loads of things to do in County Durham - too many to mention without knowing where abouts you want to be!

1st pic is finchale abbey, second is houghall woods which are great for a walk and run about, toddler will enjoy! Houghall woods are also just on the outskirts, there is a gorgeous Italian restuarnt as you go in, and is near shincliff village which has a nice garden centre and cafe and is good for a wander around Cake

You can get row boats on the river, or there's a sitty-down tourist boat, too. Durham is beautiful, you lucky duck Smile.

Definitely do the Cathedral, and the DLI. It's lovely for children and lots to do. There's a woodland walk as well, iirc.
