We are north Wiltshire, Marlborough/Devizes area and don't particularly want to drive for more than 1.5 hours each way. We have ds1 who is 3.4 and ds2 who is 16 weeks. On the list is Cotswold wildlife park, Bristol aquarium & SS Great Britain, Brokers Wood country park, as well as a few nice walks weather permitting! But wondered if you had any other ideas?

Bristol is fab. What about the zoo in Clifton, or Noah's Ark slightly south of Bristol.

How far are you from Slimbridge? Or Westonbirt Arboretum?

Longleat? I think its about an hour from you.

I'm near you! Cotswold wildlife park is brilliant! Your DS1 will love the play area and the train as well as all the animals. We love going there. We also enjoy Dyrham Park - Toddler Tuesday is on during term time and mine loved it. Lasts and hour with an activity and story / songs. Then looking for deer and a little play area in the Old Lodge. You may be a litle too South for Roves Farm, but it is brilliant and has s tractor ride. Steam museum in Swindon is great for a wet day. Lots of space to run about - and trains! Avebury manor is also good with children - they can lie in the beds and sit in the chairs and at the dining tables - not like normal National Trust properties! Great garden for running around and playing hide and seek in too. Have fun!

All the places I've suggested cost a lot, but there are two free museums in Bristol:
Bristol Museum and Art Gallery - combine this with Brandon Hill and Cabot Tower
M-Shed.

Zaza Bazaar is a good place to eat - your children will both be free and I think for adults it's 10 pounds for the buffet.

I second Slimbridge

Stourhead is lovely in the autumn

Haynes Motor Museum near Yeovil?

Is there still a Gruffalo Trail at Westonbirt?
