Have you been anywhere you'd really recommend

Am starting to think about our Summer holiday next year, if anyone went anywhere this year/ in recent years that they would really rate please can you let me know. Wanting a short haul flight and nice accommodation ideally self catering (or eating out in our case) or B and B in a hotel, need a pool and like to be walking distance to a beach and nice local restaurants to eat out in. Have been very lucky with our choices in the last few years and find personal recommendations very useful. We typically go to Greece but would mind trying something else this year.
Thanks

I have to recommend an apartment complex in Fuerteventura called El Sultan. It isn't a particularly big complex but it is lovely. We have stayed all over other countries, Greece, Jamaica, Africa, France etc and I liked this apartment for a cheap hot holiday. It wasn't expensive. We have been as just a couple, and with our family.
A lot of the apartments are owned by Irish people ( I am not Irish) and they are lovely people. There are two and three and four bedded apartments. There are two large pools and two children's pools. I booked through Owners Direct. You need to make sure that there is an owners telephone number that you can ring, but I have always booked through that website and it has been fine.
The complex is not too far away from a shopping mall with a big supermarket. You can walk into Carreljo which is a seaside town and has lovely beaches and restaurants. It is about a 15 min walk to a beautiful beach. We always hire a car as they are cheap to hire in Fuerteventura. Taxis are cheap anyway and there are buses.
Fuerteventura is one of the few Canary Islands that has white sandy beaches and is my fav Canarian Island.

How about the algarve, I live in Carvoeiro, lots of nice self catering apartments and villas, walking distance to the beach and lots of restaurants/shops/bars but still quite a small resort - there's a thread on here under short haul which I started at the beginning of the summer which might give you more of an idea of what it's like?
