we live in California, the only holiday DS gets between Christmas and summer is a week spring break, 2016 it is the penultimate week of March, so we want to go on holiday within the states as it's cheaper than summer and winter.

This year we did NOLA for 8 days which was fab.

DC will be 4.5 & 7.5, so family friendly, not averse to camping but I'd rather get a good 8-10 days away so prob likely to do Air BnB style accommodation. Not California, not too cold (we don't own winter gear anymore), mix of culture and museums and half decent playgrounds and outdoorsy stuff, we're pretty open to be honest. No theme parks.

Shoot!

Savannah and Charleston are lovely at that time of year. Besides the obvious appeal for adults, there are a lot of things to do with children in both cities.

Sanibel Island , off Gulf Coast of Florida . Rent bikes (safe cycling for little children), lots of shell hunting on gorgeous beaches , Ding Darling Nature Reserve , boat trips , Dolphins on shore line ....one of my most favourite places in the USA . Took my dd many times when she was growing up and she adored it .
Rent a condo on the beach .
