Having done all the British holiday stuff i.e Haven, Butlins, Centerparcs, etc. I have now decided to opt for an all-inclusive hols abroad at 'Club St Lucia' next year with enough activities to keep the children being of different age ranges amused (16, 10, 4 and 1), while I have some me time to myself. However, on checking the tripadviser website there are many mixed reviews so which one can I believe? If it is as bad as some people make out does anyone know of any others around the same price range of £4k. My hols is not until Aug 2007 so I guess I still have time to change my mind but I need your help please. This is supposed to be a hols of a lifetime and I am now beginning to panic!!! Help!

Hi temmy99

Club St lucia has been taken over by the almond resort group.I think it will be renamed smugglars cove.It is closed for renovations. It will be interesting to see reviews when it opens again.

Don't forget August is mid-hurricane season in the Caribbean!

Thanks Marbeth for the info, I spoke to the TA today and they said they were not aware of this, typical. Thanks Carribeanqueen, I hope the hurricane does not affect us but again the TA did not mention this possibility I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!!

We've been to Turtle Beach in Barbados several years running (but in October so no idea how prices will compare with August). DSs are now 14 and 11 and still keen to go.

Lovely, smallish resort, but very friendly staff (mostly) and good food. Very good kids club too.

Hopefully off again next October!

Please don't worry. Lots of familys have many happy hols in the Caribbean at this time. I am sure their are some who may not, but it is not likely that you holiday will be spoilt by the weather.

Anyone who sells a holiday to the Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico or Florida for that matter, should know that Hurricane season is from June to November - and can be anything from a tropical storm to a Hurricane.

Which TA did you use?

The following info is taken from the web: see link below for more info.
The last Hurricane to hit St Lucia was in 1980 when it passed south of the island. When Caribbean islands are ranked according to number of severe hurricanes passing within 60 miles in the last 150 years. St Lucia ranks 54 out of 60 with only 13 Hurricanes of all categories, since 1851 when records began.

Happy hols.
