Glasgow advice

Hi there, some local advice would be welcome. We're all travelling up to the highlands soon from the midlands. To simplify (and reduce stress!) on the journey, I am going up to Glasgow by train with my 4 year old DS while my DH drives up.

Our train will arrive first, so we want to find somewhere handy where DH can pick us up from without having to come into the city and park etc. we will be there nearing Friday rush hour so just want to whizz through. He'll be driving up the M74 then M8.

Are there any handy places that me and DS can get to, on foot or local train etc where DH can then pick us up without going too far off motorway? A retail park, hotel etc on edge of city? Any help appreciated! Thank you.

If you are heading to Queen Street or Glasgow Central, if you go to shopping centres nearby (buchanan galleries or st enoch) then there are car parks inside. Everything you need is either right next to these stations or on the underground (which again is right next to both stations!)

Is it the one that stops at Motherwell? I'd consider getting off there tbh, there's a shopping centre in walking distance and Motherwell is really close to the M74.

Or get another train with your spare time so you're further on your way past Glasgow.

Getting in and out of the city centre at rush hour isn't going to be quick.

Thank you so much everyone! I hadn't actually thought about getting off the train earlier or going further on, but a very good idea, I'll look into it! Thanks for such quick and thorough replies!
