Glasgow advice

Hi there, some local advice would be welcome. We're all travelling up to the highlands soon from the midlands. To simplify (and reduce stress!) on the journey, I am going up to Glasgow by train with my 4 year old DS while my DH drives up. Our train will arrive first, so we want to find somewhere handy where DH can pick us up from without having to come into the city and park etc. we will be there nearing Friday rush hour so just want to whizz through. He'll be driving up the M74 then M8. Are there any handy places that me and DS can get to, on foot or local train etc where DH can then pick us up without going too far off motorway? A retail park, hotel etc on edge of city? Any help appreciated! Thank you.

Get him to come off the M74 at Tradeston which I think is junction 1 - it's the final exit before joining the M8. There are loads of places he could meet you there but easiest to find for you and him is probably Springfield Quay - look it up online and if he has a satnav in the car it should be a piece of cake to find. It has an Odeon cinema, bowling etc. From Central Station to get there by foot is probably about a 15 minute walk. It's then easy to hop back on to the M8 and head west towards the Erskine bridge.

Thanks so much nulgirl that's brilliant and sounds simple enough!

Oh and the advantage is that it has restaurants/ cafés in case it rains. If you want to be even quicker back on to the motorway, you could arrange to meet at Scotland Street School. It is a fab museum of childhood in an old school which your son would love.

The museum sounds great, I'll google it and hatch a plan! Thanks again.
