Any tips for pebble stacking?

I found this competition to win a (much needed ) holiday at Ladram in Devon through creating a pebble stack & living near a beach makes entry is a no brainer however I've never 'pebbled stacked' in my life.

Does anyone have any special techniques or tips beyond find big flat pebbles?

don't have any experience of doing it myself but check out Michael Grab, Gravity Glue: for some really beautiful structures

Wow, that makes my attempts look totally amateurish

Start on solid, slightly damp sand, not on a layer of small stuff. We do a lot of stacking but only so we can sit back, throw stones and see who can knock it down again.
