Travelling with a brand new Kindle Fire

Stupid question: I have bought a kindle fire as a gift to take on a plane tomorrow. Do I need to open it up and charge it tonight or will it be OK in packaging? Thanks!!

They randomly test at airports. Mine has not been checked the last three flights but the one before it was....no help sorry! But I would check it had some charge - if it's in hand luggage you will have to take it out if box anyway

Thanks for your replies. I was leaning towards it, but wondered if I was being daft and kind of "ruining" the gift in the process. Plugging it in now.
