Anything fun to do near Gatwick?

We're flying out of Gatwick on a Monday morning in Oct, and travelling up on the Sunday. We're thinking of doing something on the way there (travelling from Bristol) but are undecided as we don't want to totally knacker the kids before they fly long haul the next day (so Legoland etc is out). DDs are 6 and 8, any ideas??

Assuming you will be driving, Tilgate Park in Crawley is good - small zoo, adventure playground, loads of space etc.

There's a nearby Go Ape.

The British Wildlife Centre is fairly close by, we go regularly.

Go Ape is in Tilgate Park. There's also a climbing wall and swimming pool at the K2 leisure centre which is very close by too.

Or Nymans NT house and gardens is in Handcross a few junctions down the M23.

British wildlife centre would only be open on weekends and occasional weekdays by then. Tilgate park is a good idea and not far. Wakehurst place, bluebell railway, Standen are a little further. Whereabouts are you staying?

Godstone Farm is not too far - brilliant outside at area, indoor playbarn, tractor rides, animals etc...
