Need some advice on where to go with our two boys (5 and 6 years) in December, we honestly don't even know where to start looking in the world - we want a warm location, with activities such as watersports, excursions etc available but don't want to be in an all-inclusive resort hotel. Would rather fly direct but I guess don't mind changing once.

For accommodation, we would like a villa/cottage right on a clean beach, walking distance preferably to a village/town/shops/restaurants/a bit of life. Self catering, but facilities nearby.

Does anyone have any recomendations???? It seems to be that either you have a villa on a beach but have to drive to stuff, or you are in a town in an apartment NOT on a beach.

December you are looking at long haul unless you fancy canaries, Dubai or Egypt. Canaries may be warm enough if you get somewhere with a heated pool?

Bali? Legian is nice for families.
Mexico , Isla de la mujer or playa del carmen (inspired by another thread)

In both cases, you have restaurants and all you need and lovely beaches and warm water!

Costa Adeje in Tenerife is nice, we stayed at baobab suites which is 10 mins walk from beach and town, or there were quite a few places right in the town.

Costa Adeje is very nice indeed but the sea is freezing in December and the sunshine isn not always guaranteed.

Caribbean would be lovely then. St Lucia or Barbados?
