Luxury holiday with toddler, but where?

We and another family, both with babies who will be around 20 months, want to go on a lovely holiday together in Jan/Feb next year. We had thought SE Asia but are now a bit terrified of a flight that long. Any suggestions of somewhere a bit exciting but not so long haul please?

Beaches Turks and Caicos, the BEST place for families. It's the Sandals resorts version for families and is AMAZING. Ba do a flight once a week from Heathrow (10 hours) but the hotel is only 15 minutes from Providenciales airport. You can go via Miami too but best to overnight there. Best to ring them direct 0800742742 as their website is a bit crap (although best place to start for info, videos etc). Perfect time to go too.

Just spotted BA have changed their flight, it's from Gatwick now on Sunday's with a quick touchdown in Antigua.

I know Dubai isn't everyone's taste but we went there with dd1 about 8 years ago when she was a toddler. Weather in February is great, easy flight, safe, hygienic, no vaccinations and good healthcare. We had lived there before so knew it well. Wasnt an earth shattering holiday of a lifetime but suited what we needed with a toddler.

We just had a fantastic holiday in Sicily and before that a great one in Morocco after finding villas through I-escape.com, they have a 'with kids' brand that I can't fault. Going to try Bali with them next Smile

Also did Seychelles with a Dubai stop off when DS was a baby. It was lovely but didn't justify the flight time.

We went to the Lux Bella Mare when DD1 was 2.5. Was brilliantly set up for toddlers: big very shallow pool, great kids club with trampoline, toddler pizza making etc. Also we had the best nanny in the world called Lalita who took DD off to play every morning. We tried to lure her back to the UK but she wasn't keen on the rain.

Oh it was in Mauritius, so a little bit far but worth it.

Thanks all, I think we're really looking for a non-resorty place, prefer smaller hotels generally but think this may not work since we want all the benefits you get of being in a resort. Tricky one.

Sugar Beach St Lucia, complete heaven.
Fly direct, 90 mins transfer but you could splash out for a helicopter.
The villas are gorgeous, the food amazing, the beach perfect and they love children.
