6 weeks in caravan

Hi,
My husband is planning on taking 6 weeks parental leave next Summer holidays and we want to spend the time in our caravan travelling around Devon and Cornwall. Can anyone see any downsides to this happening with a 10 week old baby? I will be breastfeeding so don't need to worry about sterilising etc. I don't think we've missed anything but there maybe something glaringly obvious to others

Thanks.

Sounds fab, babies are very portable at that age.

It'll be brilliant Jampots. It our caravan, its got all our stuff in, we'll be travelling round seeing fantastic scenery and the older boys can play on the beaches, I can't wait Whats not to like?????

actually I think it sounds rather fun

you've clearly had babies before so you know what you're doing

I suppose the only thing is that I was always a grumpy, hormonal harridan until around 6 months or so so a caravan with no access to baths, The West Wing or warm chocolate would be my idea of hell but if not for you then...sounds fab!

I'm very very very jealous!
Went camping for the firsst time this year and love it...

trying to persuade dh to buy me a campervan instead of a volvo estate for him, don't stand a chance!

We've got two boys of 14 and 6 so they will entertain themselves alot of the time

We lived in a caravan for 3 months when ds was 6 months old. We used the big washing sinks on the campsite to bathe him. We didn't sterilise after 6 months but just bung the bottles in a bucket of boiling water overnight, that should do it. Where would your baby sleep though? Ds slept in the bottom bunk at the back of our caravan where a sliding partition kept him from falling out. I wouldn't fancy this with a younger baby however.

peacemakerukuk · 23/11/2006 14:44

The baby will sleep in a moses basket on the shelf bunk over our bed at the back.

Can it not tip over?

compo · 23/11/2006 14:50

My dd is 10 weeks today and I just would nt be able to cope with that at all!! her crying would wake yout older boys u in the middle of the night so you'll all be sleep deprived. I intended to exclusively breast feed too but collapsed under the strain and gave in to top up bottles. I think you are very brave

peacemakerukuk · 23/11/2006 15:11

No, it can't tip up and thinking back to my other 2 I don't remember 10 week old's moving round enough in a moses basket to knock it off a shelf.

My ds did - trust me!
Go for it anyway! I'll either be a complete nightmare or loads of fun!
