Lanzarote recommendations

Hi DH has decided to do the lanzarote ironman and we're thinking we may as well incorporate our family holiday there. Has anyone any recommendations for a good hotel? We usually stay in holiday villages but not sure this is needed as kids don't use clubs. Wanting all inc, good food and nice pools... Thanks so much, any advice would be fab. I'm getting snowed under on trip advisor! X

Am sure others will be along soon but would you consider a private villa? There are tons online. Also it's a beautiful and fascinating island so worth hiring a car unless you intend to stay in resort the whole holiday.

We stayed in the Hesperia. V V nice, AI, loads of pools, lovely rooms.

Couldn't fault it.

We have been three times with small children now, private villa each time, you can get one for a decent price with a private pool etc we have always booked with owners direct.
Car hire is super cheap and driving is easy there, lovely to get to some of the quieter beaches and market at Teguise as well. The beaches at Papagayo are beautiful. Playa famara is great if you like surfing.
Playa blanca is the sunniest bit of the island (not sure what time of year you're going but we have always been in the winter) if you're going in the winter you will need a heated pool.

like the others have said. private villas are lovely. playa blanca or peurto del carmen (old town not the new area). and if in winter you need a heated pool

My rec is all inc

Princessa jaiza was excellent. All inc, kids club and football training from an ex pro, all suites.

But expensive imo

why all inc? there are so many lovely and really cheap restaurants and bars everywhere
