Can anyone help me with my dilemma. I am travelling to Nigeria in 10 days time with my infant and 4 yr old daughter and I would like to know which of the two options offered will be more comfortable for my baby. Also will I have to request it in advance? My baby is a bit big for his age and stopped using a Moses basket when he was 3 wks old. thanks.

We used a bassinet when flying to US with 3 month old...was fab as he could lie flat. He slept most of the way.

Have you paid for a seat for the baby?? If not i dont think you will be able to use the car seat. If you have paid for a seat then you can always book the bassinet anyway and take the carseat as well. The bonus if you book a bassinet is bulkhead seats with extra legroom for you.

We are off to oz in 3 weeks and DS will be 12 months so have been having a similar dilemma, but have managed to get the bassinet booked as well.

I would ring BA and speak to their reservations, they should be able to tell you weight limit for their bassinets (it varies) so that should help you decide.

Thanks for the tip, i have contacted BA and booked a Bassinet, it was just that on the BA website, they now have a Britax seat which they give on a first come, first serve basis for infants between the ages of 6 to 23 mths and apparently it can still be used in the Bulkhead seat so I was wondering if this would be more spacious than the cot. Has anyone used these seats and are they similar to the car seats? thanks again.

As long as your infant isn't huge, you should be ok.

If the Britax seat is the same one I've used, it's a strange little fold-up seat that goes on the bulkhead (same as the bassinet). It doesn't really go flat, but it does go more upright, so your child can, in theory, sit on it and have a look around and be happy.

I travelled to Bali when DS was 11 months. It was wonderful! He slept most of the way and when he wasn't asleep he sat and played in it or we used it to store his toys in.

Forgot to say that was in a bassinet

My slightly larger than average ds went in a bassinet at 6mo - it was fine to sleep in, but he couldn't have gone in it if he was much bigger.

We used the Britax seat to Barbados when dd was 8mts and it was great. She could see around much better than bassinet, easier to feed her and it did recline enough for her to sleep in.

My 4mth old was a bit too big for the bassinet (sorry to say) he is on the 91% for height however and moves alot in his sleep. We had booked the bassinet thinking it would be great and he spent the whole time on my lap anyway. So guess it depends how big your baby is and how long !
