Boots? Anywhere else? I have a 10 yr old dd who is notoriously careless so I don't want to spend too much but they need to be safe

I don't think anywhere in the UK except possibly market stalls now sells non-CE marked sunglasses. Surprisingly, independent chemists are worth a look as you sometimes get cheapies on their sunglasses stands.

millets have a good range if you happen to hit sale time, ditto mountain warehouse.

I got DS's from Decathlon this year

Primark. Cheap enough to buy a few pairs for careless ds.

For kids sunglasses I would suggest you to visit sunglasses-shop where you can get various varieties of kids sunglasses at affordable rate. For kids sunglasses shopping you should look for kids eyes safety.

An optician. Some sunglasses are useless. My local one has well priced ones for children and at least you know they will do the job.
