Italy: Stopover between Venice and Tuscany/San Vincenzo

Can anyone recommend a good place to stop roughly half way between Venice (Camping Ca'Savio) and Tuscany/San Vincenzo (Park Albatros)? We are looking for somewhere roughly half way to break the journey for our DCs aged 3 and 5. We can stop for two nights. I don't know anything about the region, except maybe Brisighella or Ferrara might be good options? Any advice much appreciated.

I'd say Bologna, the countryside around it is lovely.
