passport query

dd1's passport expires in june. we are going abroad in december.

sorry if this a completely mad question, but i'm sure i heard that you sometimes need 6 months validity on a passport. did i make that up??

btw, going to austria.

I think the 6 months rule applies to non-EU countries. Have you looked on the foreign office website?

Some countries do have a requirement for a passport to be valid for a specified period following entry to the country, but I'd be very surprised if it was 6 months.
Best to check - maybe on Austrian tourist board website?

thanks, just checked. its 3 mo for EU. 6 mo elsewhere. (phew!)
