There is a superb zoo in the former East Berlin that you must go to if it's not raining. Fantastic cafe too there too. Don't bother with the one in former West Berlin.

There is also a great transport museum with a real aeroplane on the roof.

Boat trip on the River Spree is also great way to see Berlin.

DH has just dug out the guide to the zoo (all in German) - it is called Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde and the address is Am Tierpark 125, D-10307 Berlin. There is a website here

The TV tower in Alexanderplatz is great to get an overview of Berlin. Go mid-morning and have a coffee in the revolving restaurant for the best, most relaxing view. It often has queues to get in in the afternoons.

I'm not sure where the Hilton is exactly, and anyway restaurants tend to turnover very quickly so I'm sure that most of my favourites when I lived there have gone. Sushi is usually very good, make sure there's a Japanese sushi chef, even better if there are some Japanese customers. Spicy foods like Thai, Indian and Korean used to be quite disappointing as they were usually done for the German palate, which means virtually no chili.

I've just realised that when you say "the 2 of us" that probably means you and your partner, not you and your DC! Apols for wombling on about zoos and museums! I am such a duffer .

Thanx for all your messages- getting excited now! I'm sure DH will be delighted with aeroplanes on roofs and zoos etc - me I think I'll go for the revolving restaurant!! Yes, course I'll post a review for you!!! Cheers girls!
