Holidaying alone, maybe activity holiday?

I have the chance to go away without my children after my husband left me last year. Sadly though, I have no one to go with, so will have to go alone. I have no idea what to do, I'm to exceptionally fit, although walk quite a bit, but was thinking an activity type holiday might suit me and that it will be easier to meet people to talk to then, as I'm not very good at talking with random strangers.

Any advice or suggestions welcomed.

Have a look at Spice UK. They offer holidays for people holidaying alone. They have a good mix of activity holidays or relaxing ones. There is usually a co ordinator to look after you and they help give the group an identity, help people socialise (or not - it is up to you) and organise activities.

How about the sort of walking holiday where your luggage gets moved on from hotel to hotel? We have done these in France, Germany and Italy. Although we usually do a self guided one there are plenty of companies who do guided walks if you would rather be in a group. They usually give a good indication as to the level of fitness required e.g easy, moderate, tough.

I would second Exodus and Explore Worldwide. They have lots of interesting holidays and often take single people. Do take this as an opportunity to do something you want to do. You have freedom of choice so have a great time.
